Who we are & where we live
We are Suzi & Joe Drew, with our boys & Suzi's Dad Tom we moved to Mid Wales in November 2018.
We found Pantmaenog Farm almost by accident. And we've never been happier!
Pantmaenog is a bit special, a 60 acre hill farm that has been preserved without the use of chemical pesticides for the past 100 years. Located on the Belan hill above Cwmbelan a tiny hamlet overlooking the thriving market town of Llanidloes, we share this place with the amazing wildlife, our horses, very tame sheep and dogs.
Where we are?
Pantmaenog is above a tiny hamlet of Cwmbelan with is steeped in history. Our local town of Llanidloes is only 2 miles away for all your local amenities yet is distinctive in the fact it fiercely protects its independent traders- fishmonger, butchers, chemist, bakery, artisan bread, organic coffee shops, galleries, antique shops, pubs you name it- it’s probably there!
Places to visit
With 60 acres of wild meadows, ancient wood & heathland you can explore but never leave if you wish but if you fancy going further here’s a few we like:
Clywedog Reservoir has the tallest concrete dam in the UK, with a height of 72 metres and a length of 230 metres. Plus visit the lead mine beneath.
Rhayader Red Kite feeding station – see the sky clouded in red kites! Brilliant conservation work being done by the owners.
Powys Castle & Gardens – the house, the gardens, the view, the tea room – WOW!
Beaches – Ynslas Beach allows parking on beach & Borth village has both a fabulous beach front pub & icecream parlour to finish the day!
Aberystwyth has a traditional pier, with yummy fish suppers and very convenient pebble beach.
Elan Valley reservoir & hotel is simply stunning in the heart of the Cambrian Mountains – top of the world!
Devils Bridge – scary steps lead you to waterfalls & legends.. with the fabulous Hafod Hotel across the road for recovery & beautiful food. Another wow factor.
Cinema with a difference – there are more local cinemas but please go further & try our favourite, art-deco cinema with velvet curtains, armchairs & gin and tonics!
Local pub – all the pubs are lovely in Llanidloes serving local beer, ale & Welsh gin plus great food– we’ll give you a list
